Biography Highlight

Zhang Boxing, male, Han nationality, is a native of Baxian County, Hebei Province. He was born in 1930 and joined the Democratic Youth League in 1947. He joined the CPC in 1950.

Zhang started his career as the director of the Shangluo Prefectural Industrial Bureau. In 1975, he became the deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Petrochemical Industrial Bureau.

In the mid 1980s, he shifted into governmental positions, serving as Vice-Governor of Shaanxi Province in 1985. The following year, he became governor of the province.

Following his term as governor, Zhang served in many Party positions. He was a member of the 13th and 14th CPC Central Committees. He was secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee. From 1993 to 1998, he was chairman of the standing committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People‘s Congress.

In 1998, he was elected a standing committee member of the 9th CPPCC National Committee.
